As we drive to the outskirts of the city, we will first cruise along the ‘Ambassador Row’, Istana Sharif Ali and Malay villages. Our first stop will be at the limestone hills of Batu Caves. A flight of 272 steps will lead up to the sacred Hindu temple cave where the shrine of Hindu deity, Lord Murugah lies. Another cave, called the museum cave, is filled with images of deities and murals depicting scenes from the Hindu scriptures.

Next, we stop at a Batik Factory to see how batik is being designed and printed. Our last stop will be at the Royal Selangor Pewter, is the largest and most modern pewter factory in the world, renowned for high quality products and exceptional craftsmanship. During the tour of the factory, you will get a chance to learn the different processes, such as casting, filing, polishing, soldering, hammering and engraving of pewter products. Participate in a 30-minute workshop on pewtersmithing - with just a few simple tools (hammer, wooden mould, scraper), you can personalize a pewter dish with your initials or messages. An experienced pewter smith will guide you through the simple processes of forming, scraping, polishing and packing. The finished dish, a certificate of your new found skills and an apron are your momentos for keeps.

Depart to Malacca for about 2¼hours drive. Malacca is a UNESCO heritage site, the historic colonial towns is a living testimony to the multi-cultural heritage of traditional Asia and European colonial influences. Here many battles has been fought to gain control of this strategic base located between the Eastern and Western world leading to the monopoly and control of the lucrative East Indies’ spice trade. When the early European settlers departed, they left behind a treasure trove of historical buildings and landmarks synonymous to Malacca today.

Visit the famous gate "Porta De Santiago" only remnant of the Portuguese fortress then visits the ruins of St. Paul's Church on top of a green hill. Visit the Dutch part of the city: "Red Square", former administrative buildings of pink salmon that now houses the Museum of Malacca and government offices. Visit the Church Christchurch. Lunch at local restaurant. Beverage on pax account.

Take a walk to the temple Cheng Hoon Teng, the oldest Chinese temple in Malaysia, where you can find 3 major doctrines of local Chinese belief under the same roof: Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism.

Then depart to Kampung Morten, a living museum showcasing a village that's been around for hundreds of years. There are private museums here where one can get a deeper understanding of the local Malay culture including their costumes and crafts like embroidery work. The houses are fine examples of Malay architecture, with sweeping staircases in the centre and a verandah where family members can sit in the evenings to enjoy the air.

Come and experience the feeling of being in the tropical rainforest within the city limits of Kuala Lumpur! This program is specially designed to introduce the wonders and beauty of a primary tropical rainforest. Approximately 45 minutes journey to the outskirts of the city, you will pass through typical Malay villages where you can catch a glimpse of local villagers going about with their daily chores as well as indigenous people’s villages. Our first stop is the Aboriginal Museum. Amongst items displayed are hunting weapons, clothing made from tree barks, traditional musical instruments and wood carvings.

After the 2-hour trek (includes time to frolic at an idyllic waterfall), you can test your shooting skills with a blowpipe, fish with a bamboo pole (catch & release) at a nearby fresh water pond, splash about the nearby running stream, take a dip in the swimming pool or just lounge under the sun while enjoying lush tropical surroundings. Meet and greet at the airport and be transported to Mulu National Park. Enjoy the tranquility and pristine environment home to not less than 20,000 species of flora and fauna (mostly insects), over 3,500 plant species, 8,000 types of fungi and at least 170 kinds of orchids. You may be lucky enough to stumble upon the world's largest flower, the dog-eared Rafflesia in bloom.

Enjoy the 3 km raised plank walk to explore the Deer and Lang Caves – the largest cave passage in the world. This interesting walk will take you through the peat swamp forest to visit the Deer Cave, famed for having the world's largest cave passage. Due to its immense size, Deer Cave is like a little world of its own, with hills and valleys, plains and forests (near the huge entrance). You cannot but be mesmerized by this "Garden of Eden," complete with lush trees and a waterfall.

Be dazzled by walls of uniquely decorated & spectacular stalagmites, stalactites and other beautiful cave formations at the Lang Cave. The bats deposit a huge amount of guano in the cave providing a unique and important ecosystem, to millions of insects and their predators. In the evening, behold the spectacular sights of millions of snake-like formation of flying bats leaving from their cave in search of food for the day. Overnight.

Explore more of Mulu caves with a boat ride to Clearwater Cave. Explore some parts of the longest cave passage in South East Asia and the tenth longest in the world at 107 kilometers. Out by the river is a perfect spot for swimming and relaxing, a wonderful antidote to the tropical heat. Enjoy a picnic lunch beside the cool, crystal clear river.

Explore the Wind Cave, named after the cool breeze that fans from its entrance and famed for its unusual calcite formations. The "King's Room" unravels a treasure trove of impressive glistening stalactites and stalagmites. Visit the Batu Bungan Penan Settlement, to observe the tribe lifestyle and their handicraft heritage. DAY 2 KINABALU NATIONAL PARK & PORING HOT SPRING B | L | -

Breakfast. At 0800hrs, get ready for your tour to Kinabalu National Park. Kinabalu Park, 1600 meter above sea level with soothing temperature and an area of 754 sq. km is home to Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in South East Asia. Take two hours' drive along the mountainous countryside and witness the breath –taking sight of this majestic mountain of the east. It is botanist's paradise, home to over a 1500 species of orchids, 330 species of birds, 26 species of rhododendrons, fern, pitcher plants and others. Upon reaching the park, a guide will take you on a guided trail way along one of the numerous trails located within the mountain forest.

Then continue with a visit to the Mountain Garden where you can view some of orchids and as well as the endemic and medicinal plants found within the Kinabalu Park. After lunch, proceed to Poring Hot spring. Upon arrival at Poring Hot Spring, proceed through nature walk trails and up to the Canopy Plank Walk for a composing view of the rainforest. If you are lucky, you might catch sight of the small mammals, reptiles or insects during the walk. Take a therapeutic dip in the opened –air –style –Bathtubs with running sulphured water flowing naturally from the earth's crust. Transfer back to Kota Kinabalu.

Breakfast. At 0000hrs, get ready for a city Tour of Kuching, a quaint and lovely City, it was the Capital of the personal Kingdom of Sir James Brooke, better known as the White Rajah. There are many historical buildings in the City including the Square and Round Towers, the colonial Courthouse, General Post Office, Fort Magherita and the Astana. Visit the Cat Monument, City Hall, the Tua Pek Kong – oldest Chinese Temple in the city. Visit to an exhibition of "Urang Sarawak: An Exhibition US". Located in the Art Museum wing of the Sarawak Museum complex. It ranges from Sarawak's Paleolithic ages and early history, with sections on the Niah Caves and on the Sarawak River delta highlighting Tom Harrisson's work, to recent history. It also portrays a sample of significant cultural features of some of Sarawak's ethnic groups including cosmology, 'adat' and traditional healing. Thereafter, drive through quaint Malay kampungs (villages), explore the center of the City passing through the colourful India Street and traditional shophouses. If time permits, take a walk on the Waterfront with its outdoor cafes and watch sampans plying the Sarawak River ferrying passengers from one side of the river to the other. Notes:

DAY 1 KUALA LUMPUR – LABU SENTRAL JETTY – | – | D

Meet at the lobby between 07.30am to 07.45am to be transferred to the shuttle coach for your 4hrs journey to Labu Sentral Jetty.

Enjoy your 2hrs boat journey passing by local villages and lush tropical rainforest to the National Park, Taman Negara. Spot kingfishers, hornbills, monkeys, monitor lizards or water buffaloes along the river. Upon arrival at the park, soak in the jungle atmosphere surrounding the Resort. Register with the National Park and Wildlife Department after check-in.

At 2030 hrs meet your guide at the Resort's reception for a brief orientation introduction. Enjoy a night jungle walk looking out for nocturnal plants and insects amidst the chorus of the rainforest. Do note however, sighting of wildlife in the tropical forest due to its density, is a bonus.

Morning explore and experience the nomadic life of the Bateq tribesmen, how they co-exist with the jungle as their home, as they gather food, find medicinal plants and other native lifestyle activities for a half a day. You may encounter intriguing organisms such as mudskippers, crabs, dragonflies and monitor lizards and amongst the trees are the monkeys, birds like the rare Brown Winged Stork-bill Kingfisher and the amazing birds of prey. If you are lucky, as the boat travels along the river you will see various types of mangrove animals like otters and Long-tailed Macaques.

Visit the bat cave and then explore the enchanting crocodile cave by boat. Visit a fish farm where its aquaculture activities are an important industry on the island. Tame fish will tickle your fingertips as you feed them! The tour ends with an all-inclusive lunch at a local restaurant.

Explore Penang Island also known as the 'Pearl of the Orient'. It first achieved fame during the famous spice trade era, trade in the island was recorded as far back as the Ming Dynasty in the 15th Century. Drive along the famous stretch of Batu Feringghi Road and enjoy panoramic views of the ocean. Head to the Batik Factory to see and to learn the traditional techniques of producing this exquisite Malay textile using wax and dye.

Pass by the lush and green landscape of local fruit and spice plantations. Stop at a fruit stall for an introduction to local fruits and the spices of nutmeg and clove. Next, visit the famous Snake Temple which was originally named the 'Temple of the Azure Cloud' in honour of the beauty of Penang's sky. Pit vipers now adorn the altars in the temple. On the way back, view Penang Bridge, one of the longest bridges in the world and which links the island to the mainland. Before returning to the hotel, stop by at the Penang Colonial Museum, experience the unique lifestyle of both the British administrators & wealthy merchants in Penang, appreciate the intricate art form from the past and the influences of the British on Penangites.

Depart by 0830 hrs for Cameron Highlands located 1542 meters above sea level. Enjoy your drive to Mount Brinchang, the highest peak (6,666ft.) in Cameron Highlands and experience the tropical and mossy rainforest through a boardwalk for about 30 minutes, an interpretive walk into the Mossy Forest will reveal some of the most of unique forest flora of this mountain like the carnivorous Pitcher Plant, primitive Ferns, wild Orchids, Ti trees & Rhododendrons.

Cruise down the hill to view the most scenic tea plantation, the Sungai Palas Boh estate, said to be the largest tea station in the region. Learn the art of tea making in the factory (Factory is closed on Mon & public holidays). Enjoy picking fresh strawberries for a small fee. Visit the Butterfly & Reptiles Farm (include entrance fees) to view the many beautiful butterfly species including the renowned Raja Brooke. Explore a day market where most of the local produce can be found.

Early morning set off to Penang. Stop at the Royal town of Kuala Kangsar. View the Ubudiah Mosque, the attractive Iskandariah Palace and Istana Kenangan, built without a single nail. Discover the rich history of the Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar on a river cruise. Visit one of the last few keris (dagger) making craftsmen, the keris is a status symbol for Malay Royalties and Dignitaries.

Enjoy the Sultan Azlan Shah Gallery, Visit the Labu Sayong Center where unique shaped pots are made with deft hands and creative inspirations mostly by womenfolk. Cross over to Penang, the "Pearl of the Orient" via one of the longest bridges in the world.

Today visit the 3rd longest reclining Buddha figure in the world followed by Kek Lok Si Temple, the Temple of 1000 Buddhas. Visit Fort Cornwallis, the water village of The Clan Jetties at Weld Quay and "The Street of Harmony" where churches, Chinese temples, mosques and Hindu temples harmonious exist side by side. Be amazed by the intricate Khoo Kong Si clan's house. Enjoy a breezy trishaw ride. The rest of the day is free to spend at leisure.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • All prices quoted are in MYR, nett & non commissionable. The above prices do not include SST (Sales & Service Tax) that could be imposed by the Malaysian Government in the nearer future. The SST will be required to be added on top of the above prices upon imposition of the SST by the Government.
  • All transfers proposed are inclusive of services of English-Speaking Guide/driver.
  • 50% midnight surcharge will be imposed for all land transfer between 2200hrs – 0700hrs.
  • Rates will differ should there be a re-route in the above proposed program.
  • Rates quoted at present may not be applicable during festive periods and Public Holidays in Malaysia that may fall during the program dates. A nominal surcharge may be added.
  • All beverage billings managed by Asian Overland Services will be based on consumption and subject to 10% handling fees.
  • Asian Overland Services will make every effort to operate all activities & event according to the confirmed services. Deviations from pre-agreed program are sometimes necessary depending on local factors, including weather, road conditions, flights, or other factors beyond our control. However, this will be done only if necessary and will be informed to the organizer in advance when possible. Asian Overland Services reserves the right to amend, modify, substitute, cancel, or re-schedule itineraries if deemed necessary.
  • The guaranteed attendance and payment policies are applicable to all functions / events and unless “Advance Notification” has been confirmed and accepted as hereafter specified, the full guaranteed attendance will be chargeable.
  • Should the actual attendance be higher than the Guaranteed Number of Guests, the actual number of Guests will be charged. However, should the actual attendance be lower than the guaranteed number of guests, the guaranteed number of guests will be charged.
  • All correspondences, namely confirmation / cancellation / amendment, must be made in writing.

Payment

  • 100% pre-payment is required to be made for all services prior to the commencement of services.
  • Pre-payment must be made by telegraphic transfer payable to Asian Overland Services Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd not later than 90 days prior to commencement of all services.
  • Non-refundable deposits may be required for certain services during.
  • Exchange rate MYR to USD is 4.00 as at today (subject to change).

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation charges are applicable as follows:
    • Forfeiture of non-refundable deposit (where applicable)
    • 25% cancellation charges for cancellation made 90 days or less prior to arrival
    • 50% cancellation charges for cancellation made 45 days or less prior to arrival
    • Full cancellation charges for cancellation made 30 days or less for both hotel and ground services
  • Cancellation fees are levied by Asian Overland Services in cases where charges arise from outside contractors or where actions taken extend beyond reservations for tours and hotel accommodation. Charges are levied at the sole discretion of Asian Overland Services for operation planning, consulting and ancillary expenses relating to development of services of a specialized nature.
  • A program re-costing will be made and/or cancellation charges will be assessed where group Size reductions or cancellations are lodged (including reduction in size of movement by more than 10% within 45 days of commencement of services.
